About Bank Street Corner

Bank Street Corner promotes the activities and expertise of Bank Street College of Education to an external audience via the World Wide Web. The purpose of this Web site is three-fold:

• Reflect the unique treasures of Bank Street College
  
• Advocate for progressive pedagogy
  
• Showcase special projects that illustrate our pedagogy in practice

Developed by the Publications and Media Group at Bank Street College, the Corner highlights Bank Street’s acclaimed developmental-interaction approach. The site is organized into six curricular sections: Social Studies, Reading, Science, Arts, Math, and Early Childhood. Each of these sections contains articles, ideas, lesson plans, classroom vignettes, practical techniques, and recommended books. Particular emphasis is placed upon developmentally appropriate practice, issues of diversity and inclusion, progressive pedagogy, and National Standards.

The site is part of Bank Street’s strategic plan to broaden its reach by offering an international Web community an ongoing, cohesive collection of educational resources and materials. Concurrently, Bank Street is extending its marketing outreach to educational, corporate and eCommerce partners to establish innovative projects and affiliations.
